The first post of several covering my trip to Marfa, Texas obviously had to start out with a bang. Most people only know the cities name because of this little art installation referred to as Prada Marfa. The sculpture is right next to a highway smack dab in the middle of the desert.  It was built in 2005 by artists Elmgreen and Dragset and showcases Prada shoes and bags from that year. It’s obviously not a working store but I did have my eye on a few bags that I would pay big bucks for. I’m sure you can imagine my devastation when I learned they have no bottoms but instead hide part of the security system. Buzzkill. But apparently very necessary for the number of break ins and vandalism it has. The meaning behind the piece is obviously up to interpretation but it’s said that it’s a playful nudge at wealthier individuals and how they love to buy and renovate in run-down urban neighborhoods.

Not only was it so cool to get to experience this place in person but, I had a photographer on deck to snap these pics (a bloggers dream). The man behind the pics is the talented Justin Baney, one of my best friends boyfriends (and my friend obv). Check him out as well as his company Clean Hands. Very cool stuff. You’ll see more of our trip in another post along with a travel guide because I’m telling you you need to go. Shop my look below. XOXO
